Geisha GEISHA

A geisha is a person who enlivens the party with traditional Japanese entertainment such as dancing and shamisen. The three-person composition is generally one local plus two cubic persons.

Jikata - geiko in charge of playing and singing
Tachikata - geiko mainly in charge of dance
Hantama - young geiko (equivalent to maiko in Kyoto)
A baimen - also called a taiko player, who enlivens the occasion

◆Edo Tezuma TEZUMA

Traditional magic tricks, also called wazuma, have been handed down in Japan since ancient times, mainly through oral transmission. There are several unique Japanese performances such as "Suigei," "Butterfly Dance," and "Bowl and Balls.

Shamisen performing arts are those performed on the shamisen, a traditional Japanese stringed instrument. The shamisen is a wooden instrument with three strings, and the strings are plucked with a bachi, or plectrum, to produce sound.

"Kabuki."
Kabuki is a traditional Japanese theatrical performance characterized by spectacular costumes, makeup, music, and dance. All roles are played by men, and the highlights include mie, which emphasizes emotion, and kumadori, a flamboyant form of makeup. The performance is a dynamic presentation of historical and love stories. Even if you do not understand the lines, you can enjoy the entertainment through movement and sound. It is registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage and still attracts many people.

KUMADORI Experience

You will learn about the history and enjoyment of Kabuki for 30 minutes and experience Kabuki makeup (kumadori). Kumadori is the makeup that kabuki actors apply to their faces, using colors to express their personalities and emotions. It is an important element to emphasize the characteristics of the role, such as red for justice and blue for evil.

Enjoy a 20-minute Kabuki makeup demonstration, followed by a 15-minute Kabuki dance performance in front of you, which is very powerful. You will feel the glamour of the costumes and wigs that only stage performing arts can offer.
